What sets Curve XS skis apart from any other aftermarket ski is our patented Continuously Variable Geometry. When the snow passes under a Curve XS ski, it doesn't stay on the same path it started on. The ski has different profiles across the bottom that do different things: - The front of the ski has a high surface area, intake profile that grabs a whole bunch of snow. - The snow is then channeled into a compaction profile under the spindle where it is formed into a rail on each side of the keel, giving your ski something to ride and hold on to. - Once the rail is formed, it is held in that shape and used to guide the back of the keel maintaining steering stability and resisting the tendency to dart. - The rail of snow then enters the ejection profile, is evacuated and sprayed into your skid for added cooling and lubrication. Because of how the snow is handled once the skis captures it, a days changing conditions on or off trail negligibly affect how the ski performs on the whole, relative to the condition.

after reading the article in snow-tech. i am still not sure what type of snow this ski would be good in or made for. is there any certain type of snow this ski is better in?
thank you for time in answering this question,

Tim, what we created with our patented "Continuously Variable Geometry" is an extremely versatile ski.

As with conventional skis, they tend to do well in some conditions and not so well in others. The main reason for this is consistency. Since the profile design of a conventional ski is constant, it will work best only in a condition that allows the profile to function at its maximum capacity. As the snow consistency changes, so does the handling of your machine.

Curve XS skis take this one step further by actively compacting the snow into a rail on each side of the keel, which the ski rides on. An underlying fundamental of snow is this - as it sits on the ground prior to any physical manipulation, one thing is always constant; its specific density can be increased through compression.

2’ of fresh powder has a lower specific density than 2’ of hard-pack. With temperature constant, as the specific density of snow approaches water "1" after compression, its ability to maintain form or more precisely, its resistance to displacement increases.

Curve XS skis use this density manipulation principle to control the snow instead of letting the snow control you!

The best part of the Curve XS skis, is that the type of snow doesn't matter. The one thing I've learned about Curve XS skis is that they are designed to make any snow work for you, rather than making you tailor your ride to the snow.

Thanks projectswole!  We are happy you've had such a great experience on our skis.  You are absolutely right in fact, the very principle we've designed the Curve XS around is letting the ski form the snow into a shape it can use instead falling mercy to what is currently on the trail or track.

A few different features come into play off trail since you don't have a base to help make the form.  Due to the unique floatation distribution of the XS, we've got that covered as well, which is why we can tout the XS as being the most versatile ski on the market today.

On trail, off trail.  Hard packed, loose and sloppy.  Powder, crust.  The Curve XS works its magic in all - leaving you 100% confident and ready for anything.  So, bring it on 'Old Man Winter'.  Lets see what you've got!
